Backstory

Amreth von Helritter is the son of Sir Eldred von Helritter and the Elfmaiden Andreytha of the Lunar Wode. 
Disinherited from the von Helritter estate after his father's marriage to a daughter of the House of Darith, his half-brother Rufus became Baron von Helritter after their father's passing around twenty years ago. Anti-elven laws from the period of war have influenced his thought (Neutral with respect to Law and Chaos).
As a youth he joined the Crimson Vanguard mercenary company, rose to the rank of captain and was with the company at the fatefull Greenmist Forest Massacre where the company was betrayed by a secret society within its numbers. Much of the Crimson Vanguard was killed, with a significant number captured by the traitorous sect for ritual purposes. That was around ten years ago + or - some months. Among the lost were comrades and probably also a love interest of Amreth's. The occult sect became increasingly difficult to find in the aftermath of the massacre eventually disappearing from the memory of most, as it became the common opinion of the realms that the Vanguard was destroyed in an ambush, with some remnant surviving. Amreth has vowed himself to find those responsible, and thus turned to the divine for guidance.
